Hazard Mitigation Plans
(HMP) are designed to eliminate
or reduce the longterm risk to life
and property from natural and
technological hazards. Metro
Planning has developed more
than 25 HMPs in Texas and
Louisiana since 2003.
Furthermore, we have converted
those plans in to successful grant
applications resulting in updated
hazard mitigation plans and the
buyout if nearly 80 flood-prone
properties.
FEMA Grant Writing Services
Metro Planning has been successful in acquiring Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMPG)
funds for mitigation plan updates as well as flood buyouts. To date we have been responsible
for almost $5M in grant awards, with another $9.4M pending final FEMA approval for the
purchase of some 350 flood-prone properties. Metro Planning also provides grant
administration and audit support.
Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPP)
These plans are developed by a community in an area at risk from wildfire. The Community
Wildfire Protection Planning process is the collaboration between communities and agencies
interested in reducing the urban-wildland wildfire risk. Metro Planning is one of the only
consulting firms in the State of Texas that develops CWPPs.
Continuity of Operations Plans (COOP)
Such plans assure that the capability exists to continue essential agency functions across a
wide range of potential emergencies. Metro planning is adept at facilitating the COOP process
with participating jurisdictions.
